Techniques: The Parachute

Parachute activities are designed to draw people into a circle, the bright colors immediately drawing groups in through visual connection and ability for eye contact. As the group picks up the parachute, there is a physical and kinesthetic connection as they learn to manipulate and perform with it. There are color, ball, tag, and hiding activities that can all be done with a parachute, that help the group learn to connect and cooperate while having fun. An hour of fast and furious parachute fun can help a group bond, especially when linked with a sequence of well-planned icebreakers and leading up to more challenging initiatives.
